This 5-week TOEFL iBT Preparation Course is designed to help the students develop skills and strategies necessary for successful performance on the TOEFL iBT. The course provides training of all four-language skills – reading, listening, speaking, and writing – in integration as it is required for the TOEFL iBT. In addition to classroom instructions, class and home assignments, students have an opportunity to practice 4-6 simulation tests in the computer lab, which familiarizes them with the real test environment and conditions.

The course is led by ETS trained instructors.

About the instructor: Dr. Hilda Grigorian joined AUA College of Business and Economics in 2013, teaching “Effective Communication in the Work Place” to Graduate and  “Business Communication” to Under-graduate cohort. Dr. Grigorian has over 25 years of professional experience in the private sector in the U.S. with over 16 years of experience in International Development arena including 7 years of working for USAID and other donor agencies in Afghanistan, where she served as Senior Development Adviser to the U.S. and NATO Armed forces. As a Subject Matter Expert for Afghanistan, she played a key role in training both civilian and military personnel prior to deployment to Afghanistan in the areas of; cultural awareness, communication, and ethics. In May 2011, Dr. Grigorian was recognized by the United States Congress for her achievements in Armenia and Afghanistan. Dr. Grigorian earned her Ph.D. in Public Policy and International NGO Management from Walden University.

This course introduces the communication process, the concepts and principles of internal and external business communications, as well as develops an understanding of public relations in a business context. The course also teaches business writing process to compose a business letter and email, provides effective tool to gain confidence in delivering speech in a public setting, and collaborative skills necessary to become an effective communicator in business environment. The course provides resources and tools for participants to gain knowledge to confidently use the skills required in meetings, group discussion, interviews and presentations. Overall, it is expected that each participant who completes this course has gained a thorough knowledge of business communication, writing principles, public speaking and presentation skills.

**About the Instructor:**  Astghik Sargsian has been teaching English speaking and writing skills for more than 7 years. Ms. Sargsian is a former writer for national and foreign newspapers and websites (Hraparak daily, The Armenian Reporter (New York), Euractive European media network) and a doctoral candidate at CLU (New York), where she has recently completed a course in New Trends in Business Management. Ms. Sargsian has an impressive grasp of business English and is enthusiastic to share it. 

Among her other achievements, Ms. Sargsian is also the winner of first and special awards for her articles and short stories granted by the British Council, OSCE, the Eurasian Partnership Foundation and the Public Journalism Club.
